The El Niño/La Nina cycle influences weather patterns around the planet. This year major El Niño is forming and expected to peak in late fall/early winter. It’s possible it will be stronger than any in our historical record. This will be an important time to track changing ocean conditions in the Northeast Pacific. However, data from coastal monitoring systems is often difficult to access for the average person, making it inaccessible to the coastal communities, small fishers, and others who would need it. Your task is to create an easy-to-use webapp displaying real time temperature and climatology trends from ocean observatories, and comparing them to typical values for that time of year and comparing this year’s to past El Niños.
