You are a shipowner. You start with one vessel. You build an empire — but the rules of the game are changing. Fuel prices spike. A geopolitical crisis sends oil through the roof. Competitors retrofitting their fleets with wind sails are suddenly paying less and winning more contracts. Your investors are watching your carbon score. Governments are dangling green subsidies. What's your next move? WindFleet Manager is a serious game that puts you in the captain's seat — not just on the bridge, but in the boardroom. Manage your fleet, choose your routes, negotiate contracts, and survive the storms — both literal and financial. The real twist: wind propulsion is your edge. Equip your ships with rotor sails, wing sails, kites, or full wind-drive systems. Each technology has trade-offs in cost, speed, and performance depending on your routes and cargo. Retrofit an old tanker or design a new vessel from scratch. Smart wind choices mean lower fuel bills, carbon credits earned, and resilience when the next oil shock hits. This game is built on real maritime data — wind patterns, shipping routes, EU ETS carbon pricing, fuel markets — making it both fun and a powerful awareness tool for the wind propulsion sector, directly aligned with the CAPVENT 2 national training programme (France 2030). Your fleet, your strategy, your impact. Time to sail smarter.
What the challenge owner would like to develop over 48h
Ideally, I would like to develop: a browser-based serious game (web application, playable without installation) combining fleet management simulation and real maritime data. The prototype will feature: a world map with selectable shipping routes, a fleet management dashboard (buy/retrofit/equip ships), a wind propulsion technology selector (rotor sails, wing sails, kites, solid sails), a financial engine with cash flow, fuel costs, carbon credits and state subsidies, and a random event system (oil price shocks, storms, inspections, new regulations). The game loop targets a 20–30 minute session, playable by a general public audience aged 14+.
Which skills the challenge owner is looking for
Web/game developer (JavaScript / Unity WebGL) — core game engine UX/UI designer — interface and gameplay experience Data analyst / geomatician — routing, wind data integration Eventually : Maritime economist or naval architect — realism of costs, propulsion choices? Oceanographer or meteorologist — wind atlas and route performance modelling?
