Ocean Hackathon® : An international event dedicated to ocean sustainability
Several months before the event, hosting cities/organisations will apply to the call to host in order to organise a local edition of the event. A call for challengesis then launched to gather project proposals from participating towns and cities.
Ocean Hackathon® is a non-stop 48-hour event where teams develop prototypes to address ocean-related challenges and explore their practical applications using marine data. These data are provided by local, national and international data providers. The winning team from each location advances to the International Grand Finale held in Brest, France.
Ocean Hackathon® is an initiative of the Campus Mondial de la Mer that encourages sharing, the use of new digital technologies and entrepreneurship. The concept was born in Brest in 2016, where it was tested and optimised before being rolled out to other countries in 2019.
