During the winter, the river and Gulf of St. Lawrence are partially covered with sea ice. While this ice is a real asset to the river, creating beautiful landscapes, supporting activities, and protecting the shores from erosion, it can also pose significant safety and logistical challenges. However, the dynamics of sea ice remain little known to the general public. This challenge therefore aims to help bridge this gap in knowledge about the river in winter by using available ice data to create an educational and informative platform on ice conditions in the St. Lawrence River and estuary, similar to a dashboard with levels of detail ranging from simple discovery to more specialized information.
