      • CAD05: Smart Gate 360: Intelligent Access Control in Ports

          • 48-Hour Hackathon Challenge – Smart Gate 360: Intelligent Access Control at Ports ???? Challenge: Design a functional prototype or interactive simulation of an intelligent port access control system that: Minimises waiting times for vehicles and people. Uses predictive or real-time data to make decisions. Enables a smooth and secure digital experience for authorised users. ???? What is behind the challenge? Spanish ports are moving towards digitalisation, but one of the main bottlenecks remains physical access control: trucks waiting in queues, manual authorisations, duplicate checks between different agents, and limited capacity to anticipate demand. SURCONTROL, as a company specialising in automation and access control, is launching this challenge to find fresh, scalable and viable ideas that improve this experience in state ports. ✅ Hackathon objective: Develop an MVP or demo that shows how smart port access could be managed, for example: A mobile app for transporters with access notifications. A predictive panel that anticipates congestion at gates. An algorithm that automatically authorises access according to customised rules. A visual simulation of optimised vehicle flow. A system with fictitious sensors and automatic barrier control. ????️ Permitted resources: Public APIs (e.g., traffic data, weather, simulated GPS) Rapid prototyping frameworks (Node.js, Python, Figma, Unity, etc.) Simulated or fixed databases (no real connectivity to the port required) Simple visualisations to explain the system logic ???? Minimum requirements: Must demonstrate how access fluidity, efficiency, or security is improved. Must have some level of visual interaction or automated logic. No need to integrate real hardware, but it can be simulated (readers, sensors, cameras). ???? Bonus for those who dare: Apply Machine Learning to predict demand or detect anomalies. Propose a system that is interoperable with other entities in the port ecosystem. Include dashboards or interfaces adapted to different profiles (carriers, security, logistics operators).
