Ocean Hackathon® 2023: submit your challenge!
- This year, the 8th edition of Ocean Hackathon® will take place from 17th to 19th of November 2023, in 16 cities around the world. In each one of them, teams will accept challenges submitted by challenge owners. So, if you have any innovative idea based on data integration that you would like to develop as a team, it is your time to shine! You have until the 30th of June to propose a challenge.

An international event that promotes innovative maritime-related initiatives
Ocean Hackathon® is a 48-hour non-stop digital marathon which enables the emergence of new goods and services in the maritime field. The challenges are taken up in team in order to suggest innovative solutions to actual issues of the maritime community, while being part of a sustainable ocean perspective. These challenges may at first be simple ideas, or they may be more mature ones that will benefits from Ocean Hackathon® to be boosted.The person submitting the challenge can do so as a private individual, or on behalf of its organisation (non-profit organisation, research center, business, local authority…).
At the end of the Ocean Hackathon® weekend, a winning team is designated in each town to come and present their project in Brest (France) during the Grand Finale. The participation fees for the Grand Finale are covered. The winning teams are rewarded with prizes offered by the ambassadors. In 2022, the top 3 awards ranged from € 2000 to € 5000.
Just like 300 challenges owners before you…- Explore an idea, materialize a project, or remove a technical barrier! Ocean Hackathon® will offer the conditions to do so.
- You and your teammates will form a multidisciplinary team to develop all aspects of your project.
- You will have access to tools and data provided by the partners of Ocean Hackathon®. It is a unique opportunity to access a broad range of various data sets: nautical charts, photos, seabed, juridical aspects and maritime security, activities at sea, oceanographic forecasts, satellite data, etc.
- You will receive advises from available coaches during the weekend. Benefit from their technical, scientific and project expertise.
- Join the international community and discover a remarkably interesting panel of projects.
