      • The Campus mondial de la mer was in Cork for the European Maritime Days 2025

      • From May 21 to 23, 2025, the Technopôle traveled to Ireland for the European Maritime Days (EMD). It was an opportunity for the Campus mondial de la mer to strengthen its ties with Europe, and for the SaferSEA project to take stock with all its partners. A report by Olivia Lahens and Morgane Le Meur.
      • On the Campus side

Three intense days and dozens of valuable meetings with incubators, clusters, research centers, and startups.
A strong recognition of the collective efforts carried out from Brittany to promote maritime innovation:

        • Showcasing initiatives from Brest to European networks, with a focus on Ireland and Portuguese-speaking countries
        • Strengthening connections for the next edition of Sea Tech Week®
        • Promoting the Narwhal Challenge to innovative maritime ecosystems
        • Presenting SONAR, the Campus mondial de la mer’s journal

        Some highlights:

        • Visit to the National Maritime College of Ireland
        • Networking aboard a research vessel with the Marine Ireland Industry Network
        • Presentation of the Narwhal Challenge to European maritime networks, met with great enthusiasm

A big thank you to all the partners met in Cork and to our institutional supporters and partners: Brest métropole, the Brittany Region, and Bretagne Développement Innovation.

        On the SaferSEA side

As the Irish partner of the SaferSEA European project is based in Cork, we took advantage of the EMD to bring together the project’s partners around this event.

We held our 4th consortium meeting on site, a chance to take a mid-project review and define the next steps.

We were also welcomed at the National Maritime College of Ireland for a tour of their facilities, including their navigation simulator and sea survival training pool.

Our presence at the EMD was also an opportunity to spotlight the SaferSEA project through a dedicated booth. We were among nearly 70 exhibitors from across Europe.

Finally, the event marked the launch of a new call for projects: following the selection of six maritime challenges, the SaferSEA project is launching an Open Innovation Call to connect Challenge Owners with Solution Providers based in the Atlantic area. The call is open until July 31.
