      • France and India Strengthen Their Cooperation in Marine Sciences and Technologies

      • A shared ambition for marine innovation
France and India are taking a new step forward in their cooperation in marine sciences and technologies. During Sea Tech Week® 2026 in Brest, the French and Indian partners of the GOAT (Goa Atlantic Cooperation) consortium signed a letter of intent to create a Franco-Indian innovation centre for marine sciences and technologies.
      • France and India Strengthen Their Cooperation in Marine Sciences and Technologies
      • This initiative builds on several years of cooperation between partners from both countries, including scientific collaborations, student and researcher exchanges, and university partnerships.

Olivier Rivière steps through the doors of IIT Goa to pursue a double degree with ENIB.

Academic cooperation is already illustrated by the dual degree programme between the École Nationale d'Ingénieurs de Brest (ENIB) and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Goa. Since the beginning of the 2025 academic year, IIT Goa has hosted the first cohort of five students.

The future innovation centre will focus on four key areas:

        • Marine robotics and instrumentation
        • Marine energy
        • Artificial intelligence and machine learning applied to marine sciences and technologies
        • The marine environment

The GOAT consortium brings together French and Indian partners working in education, research and the maritime sector.
