      • France Haliotis Between seaweed and abalone: exploring marine expertise and innovation

      • France Haliotis specialises in abalone farming and has, for several years, also been developing seaweed cultivation activities. The seaweed is used both as feed for abalone and for human consumption.
      • Its research and development activities cover several areas, including abalone restocking, pathology, nutrition, genetic selection, adaptation to climate change and ocean acidification, as well as systems combining abalone farming and seaweed cultivation.

From scientific knowledge to field applications

Founded and managed by scientist Sylvain Huchette, France Haliotis brings scientific expertise directly into aquaculture practices. Its facilities enable research projects and experiments to be carried out in real-world conditions, helping translate laboratory knowledge into practical applications.

The company is also exploring new approaches combining abalone and seaweed cultivation, linking different marine activities within the same production system.

        Building knowledge through collaboration

With extensive experience in collaborative projects, France Haliotis helps bring laboratory knowledge into real-world conditions and to an industrial scale. Its partnerships span local, regional and international projects, connecting scientific research with practical expertise in aquaculture.
