After 3 successful editions, bringing together more than 80 participants on about ten challenges each time, the organizing committee led by Campus mondial de la mer wishes to propose its concept to all higher education, research or innovation structures in France.

 

On the occasion of the Nautic exhibition in Paris, Campus mondial de la mer launched its call for applications to deploy Ocean Hackathon® simultaneously in several cities in France from 11 to 13 October 2019. Each local winning team will compete in a final pitch competition in November 2019 in Brest.

This launch, which took place on the Brittany stand of the Nautic exhibition on Monday 10 December last, was orchestrated in three stages:

• A presentation of Ocean Hackathon® explaining the principle, the main stages of the event's organisation, some key figures and highlights and the support offered by Campus mondial de la mer to establishments wishing to organise their local edition;
• An intervention by Shom, the national hydrographic service, an ambassador for the event since the very first edition, who explained the reasons for his involvement in Ocean Hackathon® as a data provider, support and team coach;
• A time for discussion to answer questions about Ocean Hackathon® and its national call for applications.

 

Ocean Hackathon® is 48 hours non-stop to develop a prototype and its business model based on various digital data related to the sea. A call for challenges is launched a few months before the event to identify projects on which the teams will be positioned.
