It is proposed to develop an alert system for the proximity of hurricanes to a region using the information provided by the National Hurricane Center of Miami, which is the institution responsible for issuing warnings in the North America, Central America and the Caribbean region. This institution provides an intensity and trajectory forecast that includes, among other information, the cone of uncertainty, which already comes in coordinate format.
The proposal consists of automatically downloading that information, displaying it in a mobile application and issuing an alert when the cyclone is forecast to be near the location of the mobile phone user. It is considered that this product will be useful because in some countries in the area the official information does not always arrive with opportunity.
