      • BRE08 - Overwhelmed by time

          • Modeled in virtual reality, fluctuations in water heights due to tides and climate change, on a decade and a century scale. The other objective is to follow the evolution of the coast in terms of town planning and land use. The goal is to create a digital medium to represent the risk of marine submersion in order to raise awareness among the general public and the elected officials of a territory.

          • What the challenge owner would like to develop over 48h
          • The aim of the project is to represent in a Virtual Reality helmet the risks of marine submersion in a real environment, certainly a commune in the north of Finistère. The objective is to go further than the simple cartographies that we frequently see on the subject. With the project ""Submerged by time"", we want to make the marine submersion live in the first person to make it an awareness tool.

Thanks to the Deep Sea Twins project of the Ocean Hackathon 2020, we have the skills to create a 3d virtual environment for a VR headset. In addition to representing the relief, the buildings and some remarkable objects of the coastline, it will be necessary to simulate the rise in water levels according to different scenarios and thus highlight the areas at risk. The project also integrates a temporal dimension, so we want to reconstitute the coastal environment as it was 50 or 100 years ago, then project it into the future, hence the title of the project ""Submerged"" for the theme and ""by time"" for the temporal notion.
