It is well known that global bathymetric coverage is far from complete (only ~20% of the seafloor surface is mapped with modern quality standards). How to optimize the transits made by scientific vessels equipped with multibeam echosounders so that they can contribute efficiently and at low cost to the mapping effort?
The project aims to develop a Qgis plugin to generate an optimized route based on the presence/absence of bathymetric data, the interest (scientific, economic) in a particular region and the characteristics of the sounder (swath).
