      • TOU07 - Objects detection in a video stream for the autonomous navigation of a unmanned surface vehicle

          • After autonomous cars, it's now time to have unmanned ships. In the military domain, and especially naval forces, Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USV) are used, decreasign drastically military forces exposition to inehrent mission risks. In the civilian domain, transport USV or tanker USV would allow for more economic and ecological ways to navigate (slowlier but more often). However, those USV need to ensure their own safety, as well as other surface ships safety.

            In this context, and in order to ensure this navigation safety, it is mandatory to detect all objects in proximity of the USV, whether their are fixed or mobile, at the surface or immediately above.

            The challenge is to try and identify and software innovative ways to achieve 3 objectives (in decreasing order of priorities) :

            (1a) detect/segment the horizon line,

            (1b) detect/locate fixed and mobile objects,

            (2) characterize the detected objects (location/distance, fixed/mobile, etc.),

            and (3) classify those objects (what is it? dangerous? threatening?)

          • What the challenge owner would like to develop over 48h
          • An AI algorithm and software solution capable of reaching objectives (1a+1b), and potentially (2) and (3).
